There are a couple of fights that the UFC fans are waiting to see. Other than the Tom Aspinall vs Jon Jones fight, which is heading towards being finalized, the Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler fight is one fans want to see. Conor and Chandler have been tied together for a while.
When they did the TUF season, heading two teams as coaches, it felt like they were bound to fight. We even got the official announcement. The UFC roped them in for the UFC 303 event in June 2024. The hype became all too real.
PPV and tickets were on sale. The T-Mobile Arena was expecting arguably the biggest comeback fight of the biggest combat sports athlete in the world. The hotels near the venue were seeing a surge, the prices were going up. Overall, the anticipation for another Conor fight was exactly what one would expect it to be.
Unfortunately, Conor sustained a toe injury in the weeks leading up to the fight. It forced the Notorious to pull out of the fight, and then the hype started to fade away. There were rumors about their fight being back on the table, but it never materialized into anything. Now, fans have started to give up on that dream.
Conor is way too busy managing several businesses and his brand. The Irish legend has also been involved in politics lately and has announced that he will be running for the presidential election. Amidst all the drama surrounding his life, where does Michael Chandler stand? Well, the 38-year-old isn’t waiting for Conor to come on board again. As for the previously slated fight, he hasn’t lost all hope.
Michael Chandler answered several questions related to Conor McGregor in his latest AMA
The ‘Ask Me Anything’ (AMA) sessions often bring out a lot of news from an athlete’s camp. Yesterday, when Chandler was on a plane to somewhere, he decided to have an AMA session with his fans. The lightweight star was bombarded with thousands of questions from his fans. Understandably, some were about Conor.
One fan asked, “Is Mcgregor fight officially off the table now?” If the same question is asked to a fan, they might say that the fight isn’t happening anymore. After all, McGregor is now trying his hand in politics, on top of everything else he’s got going on. Surprisingly, Chandler has a completely different response.
Never!

He simply replied, “Never!” It shows that Chandler still has some hope left in the possibility of fighting Conor. The 38-year-old has waited a long time for that opportunity. Many believe that he turned down other offers to fight in the build-up to the McGregor fight that never happened. Another fan asked him, “Does your bank account regret how long you waited for Conor?”
Ha. No. If you only knew.

“Ha. No. If you only knew,” Chandler responded. There were several key takeaways from Chandler’s AMA session, but none more important than his hopeful response for the McGregor fight.
