Tensions run high during the playoffs. Every player on each team was fired, more than usual, to put on a brilliant performance because the stakes were very high. The NBA Finals take that intensity to another level, especially toward the last few games. One such high-intensity moment, involving Pascal Siakam, was caught on camera, and the internet had a field day with it.
Game 6 of the NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Pacers was an elimination game for the Indiana franchise. They were down 2-3 and were playing a very important game at home.
The Pacers couldn’t afford a loss, and in order to level the series, they needed to be at their 100%. Fans often see players pray before games, or even fans praying during games when their team is going through a rough patch. So, it’s a regular habit and is practiced by many.
When the Pacers were in the team huddle before the game, Pascal Siakam took a moment to pray. He looked up to offer prayer. But while doing so, Siakam rolled his eyes all the way back. It appeared like he was possessed, similar to what we see in movies.
And that was enough for the internet to troll the Pacers’ star. The reason why the ‘possesses’ comments gained so much momentum was because the franchise has been hilariously accused of using black magic to win games in the past.

The ‘Siakam got possessed’ posts spread like wildfire. Two posts on the topic from the same account have garnered over 6 million impressions so far. Responding to one such post, a fan wrote:
That’s that black magic sh*t.
The Pacers played brilliantly in Game 6. They were on a mission to not only save the series and keep their championship hopes alive, but they also wanted to protect their honor at home. Not being willing to give the opponents the pleasure of celebrating at their home led to some incredible basketball being played for four quarters. But not everyone was happy with each performance.
The Pacers won 108-91. Siakam contributed 16 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists in the winning cause. But some fans believed it was not Siakam on the court after the prayer; it was the man possessed.
That is not Pascal Siakam anymore.

Everyone, including Siakam, had a good laugh over all the theories. But what’s truly worth noting is that the Pacers came with a game plan to win the game, and they executed it to perfection.
