Three players cut diagonally, clearing space for Haliburton. He slipped under screens, caught the pass, and drilled the deep shot. The play mirrors football concepts, where receivers create separation for a primary target.

The Pacers’ assistant coach, Jenny Boucek, crafted the play. A former WNBA player for the Cleveland Rockers and a University of Virginia standout, Boucek also won championships in Iceland. Since joining Rick Carlisle’s staff in 2021, she has been instrumental in refining players’ shooting mechanics by blending natural movements with shooting science.
