Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant, born on August 23, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players in NBA history. Son of former NBA player Joe Bryant, Kobe was immersed in basketball from a young age. After a standout high school career at Lower Merion High School, he declared for the 1996 NBA Draft and was selected 13th overall by the Charlotte Hornets, then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Over his 20-season career with the Lakers, Bryant became synonymous with excellence, leading the team to five NBA championships and earning numerous accolades. Known for his scoring prowess, work ethic, and the “Mamba Mentality,” he left an indelible mark on the sport. Following his retirement in 2016, Bryant continued to inspire through various ventures, including his Oscar-winning short film “Dear Basketball.” Tragically, he passed away in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, but his legacy endures.
