Stephen Curry lit up the NBA record books Thursday night, becoming the first player ever to hit 4,000 three-pointers. The Golden State Warriors star nailed the milestone shot during a 130-104 rout of the Sacramento Kings at Chase Center.
Curry only needed two long-range buckets to make history. He delivered in the third quarter, draining a three with 8:19 on the clock, thanks to a sharp pass from Moses Moody. Fans roared as the ball swished through, honoring a shooter who’s changed basketball forever.
Every three is a record. This one sets an entirely new standard.

The night wasn’t just about Curry. Eight Warriors scored in double digits, with Draymond Green dropping a season-high 23 points and Jonathan Kuminga adding 18 in his comeback from injury. Curry chipped in 11 points, keeping the team’s attack humming.
After the game, Curry called it a “special moment” to hit the mark at home.
“It was a weird game – I didn’t get many attempts – but to finally hit it in the third, I felt the energy. It was special,” he told TNT. “Blessed to keep doing this thing.”
The Warriors have been on fire since adding six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline. With Butler in the mix, they’ve won nine of their last 10 games and hold a 12-1 record. Curry’s been unstoppable too, averaging 30.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 4.4 rebounds over that stretch.
Coach Steve Kerr couldn’t believe Curry’s staying power, he said:
“He was obviously a great three-point shooter, but something like that requires incredible longevity, and here we are a decade later,” Kerr said, according to CNN.
The four-time champ and two-time MVP passed Ray Allen for the most three-pointers ever in 2021. Now, only James Harden joins Curry and Allen with over 3,000 makes from deep.

The team’s climbed from 10th to sixth in the West, and they’re clicking at the right time. With the playoffs looming, Curry likes where the Warriors stand:
“Absolutely. That’s why we’re juiced to be in this position,” he said. “We can confidently say on a night-to-night that we can beat anybody.”
This season, NBA star Stephen Curry crossed 25,000 career points, won Olympic gold, and snagged All-Star Game MVP honors in front of Bay Area fans. Now, with 4,000 threes, he’s in a class of his own.
Stephen Curry’s 3 – point revolution: From first splash to 3,000
Stephen Curry’s 3-point story is pure Hollywood, a skinny kid rewriting basketball history, one swish at a time. Here’s how the Golden State Warriors’ sharpshooter went from his first triple to 3,000, with a little pop-culture flair to match, according to ESPN.
The Rookie Debut: No. 1, Oct. 30, 2009
Picture this: a young Curry, fresh-faced and fearless, steps onto the court like a rookie cop in a buddy comedy. It’s his second game, facing the Phoenix Suns. The Warriors roll out Curry, Monta Ellis, Stephen Jackson, Anthony Randolph, and Andris Biedriņš. The Suns counter with Steve Nash, Leandro Barbosa, Grant Hill, Channing Frye, and Amar’e Stoudemire – a lineup straight out of an early-2000s mixtape. Second quarter, Biedriņš spots Curry at the top of the key. Swish. His first 3-pointer drops. He takes just three long-range shots that night – today, he might hit that in a single possession.

The Breakout Star: No. 1,000, Jan. 7, 2015
Fast-forward to Curry as the MVP in a superhero origin story. It’s his first championship season, and he’s torching the league. The Warriors field Curry, Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, Draymond Green, and Marreese Speights against the Indiana Pacers’ C.J. Watson, CJ Miles, Solomon Hill, David West, and Roy Hibbert. First quarter, Green dishes to Curry on the wing. Splash. That’s 1,000, hit in just 369 games—smashing the record for fastest to the mark. This is Curry going full Avengers, assembling his legacy.
The Dynasty Peak: No. 2,000, Dec. 4, 2017
Now Curry’s a global icon, like a rock star dropping hit after hit. The Warriors bring Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and JaVale McGee to face the New Orleans Pelicans’ Rajon Rondo, Jrue Holiday, E’Twaun Moore, Dante Cunningham, and DeMarcus Cousins. Andre Iguodala finds him for the milestone trey. After back-to-back seasons with over 300 triples, Curry races from 1,000 to 2,000 in under three years. At 597 games, he buries Ray Allen’s old mark (824) like a mic drop at a sold-out show.
The History Maker: No. 3,000, Dec. 28, 2021
Cue the epic finale. Two weeks after passing Ray Allen for the all-time 3-point crown, Curry becomes the first to hit 3,000. The Warriors suit up Curry, Gary Payton II, Andrew Wiggins, Juan Toscano-Anderson, and Kevon Looney against the Denver Nuggets’ Facundo Campazzo, Will Barton, Austin Rivers, Jeff Green, and Nikola Jokic. Late third quarter, Nemanja Bjelica sets him up. Bang. It’s his first milestone at Chase Center, a new stage for a legend who started at Oracle. This is Curry as the GOAT, closing the trilogy with a shot heard ‘round the world.
