The popularity of the basketball among Filipinos has grown far more than expected. One of the American teacher introduced Basketball in 1910s during American colonial period. As women’s sport in Philippine public school along with baseball through the YMCA and the school system. Basketball quickly caught the attention of filipinos and became more popular due to simple rules and its fast pace.
The first Filipino Basketball player who played in NBA was Raymond Townsend. He played his 1st NBA playoff for warriors in 1978-79 season. After that many strong players Jordan Clarkson and Jalen Green became NBA players of Filipino descent.

Jordan Clarkson is a Philippines player who currently playing Utah Jazz and he comes under the list of Philippines NBA Players List. He was born on June 7, 1992 (age 32) born in Tampa, Florida, his height is 6 ft 3 in. He is a Filipino and American Basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the NBA. In his sophomore year, he averages 10 points per game and as a junior he averaged 20 points, six rebounds and four assists per game.
On November 11, 2009, he signed a National Letter of Intent to play college basketball at the University of Tulsa. As a senior, he averaged 18.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.1 steals, leading his team to a 38–2 record and a semi-final loss in the state championship.
On June 26, 2014, the Washington Wizards selected him by 46th overall pick in NBA Draft. They then traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers on draft night for the cash consideration. Later, on February 8th, 2018, the Lakers traded him to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for other players.
Cleveland Cavaliers traded Utah Jordan Clarkson to Utah Jazz on December 24, 2019 in exchange of Dante Exum. On January 30, 2020, he scored a season-high 37 points in a 100-106 loss to the Denver Nuggets. In Utah Jazz his position is as Shooting guard/ point guard.
