Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry suffered a right ankle injury during Monday night’s 119-101 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. While the win marked the Warriors’ sixth in seven games, Curry’s injury has raised concerns, given his history with ankle issues.
Curry rolled his ankle after stepping on Nick Smith Jr.’s foot but managed to stay in the game. He finished with 21 points, 10 assists, and three rebounds, becoming the fourth-oldest player in NBA history to record consecutive games with at least 20 points and 10 assists. However, he was seen limping postgame, adding to fans’ worries.
When asked about his availability for Tuesday’s matchup against the New York Knicks, Curry said:
“I think I’m going to play,” Curry said. “But if my ankle says I shouldn’t, I won’t.”

Given it’s the second night of a back-to-back, the Warriors may opt for caution. Curry noted that his ankle felt “alright right now” but was “cold from the ice tub” and would be reassessed in the morning.
Meanwhile, head coach Steve Kerr’s decision to keep Curry on the floor late in a blowout sparked criticism. Fans questioned why he was still playing with the Warriors up 16 points with four minutes remaining.
“Why would you come back into the 4th quarter up 16 with 4 minutes to go then smh,” a fan wrote on X.

The Warriors have been thriving since acquiring Jimmy Butler, climbing to sixth in the Western Conference. Analyst Stephen A. Smith highlighted Butler’s impact:
“Jimmy Butler has upgraded Golden State significantly… He benefits Steph almost as much as Klay Thompson did,” Smith said, per Total Pro Sports.
The Warriors’ impressive 8-1 run with Butler has positioned them as legitimate championship contenders.
Curry’s status for the Knicks game remains uncertain, but his health will be a key factor in Golden State’s playoff push.
Warriors defeat Hornets, but for Stephen Curry and family, it’s more than a game
The Golden State Warriors took down the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center, but for the Curry family, the game meant much more than just a win. Steph Curry’s annual trip to his hometown always brings a playoff-like buzz, and this time, the moment felt even more special.
“It’s special when they wear their throwback pinstripes and I see ‘Curry 30’ on the back — that’s wild,” Steph Curry said, per The Charlotte Observer.
This year’s matchup carried an extra layer of meaning. His younger brother, Seth Curry, suited up for the Hornets, sharing the court with Steph in their hometown while their father, Dell Curry, called the game as a TV analyst.
“Me and Steph have played against each other a lot, but for it to be in Charlotte with my dad calling the game is something that never really happens,” Seth said.
“You always wonder what it would be like to play here, represent the Curry family, the legacy. Seth gets to do it”

A Hornets legend, Dell watched Steph’s shootaround, taking in the same jumper he once helped refine. Steph reflected on the moment.
“It gives me perspective… playing in Charlotte, playing against your brother, dad is up in the booth, have like 35 people tonight,” he said.
Steph also reaffirmed his lifelong connection to Charlotte, expressing his support for the Hornets and their future: “Deep down, I’m always rooting for the Hornets…to see Charlotte get excited,” he said, hoping the team thrives under new ownership.
