Sportscaster Scott Van Pelt shared a hilarious moment with Thunder guard Alex Caruso on Wednesday, bonding over their bald heads during a postgame interview.
Oklahoma City kept its momentum rolling with a 119-103 win over Detroit, marking its 11th straight victory. The Thunder have dominated the East all season, improving to 29-1 against the conference. Led by MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, they hold a three-game lead over Cleveland for the NBA’s best record.
After the game, Van Pelt turned the spotlight to Caruso on SportsCenter. He asked Chet Holmgren to pass Caruso the headset, then playfully acknowledged their shared look:
“There was a time when there was a question mark, but you’ve gone full-on bald guy,” Van Pelt joked. “I hope you feel liberated and happy.”
“I’m the freest I’ve ever been, Scott,” Caruso quipped.

Caruso, who joined OKC last June, will be a key piece in the team’s playoff push. And if their chemistry is any indication, the Thunder are just getting started.
Scott Van Pelt didn’t hold back on Kevin Willard’s exit from Maryland to Villanova
The ESPN host Scott Van Pelt ripped the former Terrapins coach on his “SVPod” podcast Tuesday, calling out how Willard handled his departure.
Van Pelt suggested Willard knew he was leaving before Maryland was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament but still misled the program’s boosters and staff.
“Of course, you can go back to your Big East roots if it’s better for your family,” Van Pelt said. “But maybe don’t take a giant (expletive) on the front steps of the house you’ve lived in for three years.”

Villanova officially announced Willard as its new coach Sunday, but Van Pelt said he learned about the move before Maryland’s Sweet 16 game against Florida. He criticized how the timing “sabotaged and hijacked” the school’s best postseason run since 2016.
Van Pelt, who initially backed Willard’s concerns, was furious to learn those demands weren’t made in good faith.
“What really troubles me,” he said, “is asking good and decent people… to jump through hoops to give you the things you want, knowing full well nothing they give you – because you’re [already] gone.”
Kevin Willard went 65-39 in three seasons at Maryland, making two NCAA Tournament appearances. But last month, he made headlines by venting about the school’s NIL situation and budget before the tournament.
