Although the main focus of change has been centered around the F1 car’s design, the livery and team updates also keep the fans on their toes. As the Australian Grand Prix flags off the 2025 season this weekend, teams have made quite a few updates. From rookies stepping in as new starters to old faces in new colors, the 2025 F1 season has it all. The role of team principal Whether it be a complete overhaul or making certain tweaks, everything comes down to the battle on the circuits. Here’s your Formula One grid for the 2025 season. This also includes the cars and team principals.
McLaren Formula 1 Team

The British team, based out of Woking, Surrey, will continue to defend their Constructors’ Championship title, as their grid remains unchanged. The dynamic duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri helped McLaren cruise past Red Bull and Ferrari. Norris came agonizingly close in the Drivers’ Championship last year, finishing second. He will aim to overcome the last hurdle and clinch the title this season. His number #4, featuring a Yellow T-Cam, remains unchanged. Meanwhile, his Australian teammate Piastri will also continue with his number #81, featuring a Black T-Cam. Team Principal Andrea Stella will hope that the new MCL39 empowers the Lando-Oscar partnership to achieve a 1-2 finish in the Drivers’ Championship, ultimately securing back-to-back Constructors’ titles.
Oracle Red Bull Racing

Based out of Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, Oracle Red Bull Racing will aim to reclaim the Drivers’ Championship with their RB21. Their grid features the defending World Champion, Max Verstappen. The Dutchman will continue his reign over the use of number #1 and feature a Black T-Cam. Verstappen will be accompanied by Liam Lawson from New Zealand, who replaces Sergio “Checo” Perez for the 2025 season. Lawson will drive with number #30, featuring a Yellow T-Cam. Christian Horner will continue as the Team Principal.
Scuderia Ferrari HP

The Prancing Horse, based out of Maranello, Italy, will be aiming to relive their glory days as they bring in Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes. The British driver is tied with Michael Schumacher for the most Drivers’ Championships—seven—and will be aiming to finally secure a historic eighth. Team Principal Frederic Vasseur and the Tifosi are hopeful that Hamilton’s addition will be the final piece of the puzzle, ending the Constructors’ Championship drought since 2008 with their new SF-25. Hamilton will continue with his number #44 and a Yellow T-Cam. Meanwhile, things remain unchanged for his teammate Charles Leclerc, as the Monegasque driver will continue with his number #16 and a Black T-Cam.
Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team

It will be a different year for Team Principal Toto Wolff after losing Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari. But Mercedes will continue to rely on George Russell, who will drive with his number #63 and a Black T-Cam on the new W16. Russell teams up with the young Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who makes his F1 debut at the Australian GP. The 18-year-old rookie will drive the W16 with number #12 and a Yellow T-Cam.
Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team

Apart from the new AMR25 car, business remains unchanged for Aston Martin. The team, based out of Silverstone, United Kingdom, will continue with their driver duo of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. Alonso will drive with his number #14 and a Yellow T-Cam. For his Canadian teammate Stroll, the number #18 and Black T-Cam remain unchanged. Andy Cowell takes charge as Team Principal for the “Silverstones.”
Atlassian Williams Racing

“Thai Sweet Chili” is the motto for Williams Racing this season as they partner Alexander Albon with Carlos Sainz Jr. The Spaniard joins Williams from Ferrari, bringing his number #55 and a Yellow T-Cam for the new FW47. His Thai teammate Albon will continue with his number #23 and a Black T-Cam. Williams last won their Constructors’ Championship in 1997. Team Principal James Vowles has a long-term vision, hoping the “Car-bon” partnership translates into long-overdue success.
BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team

The French team, owned by Renault, had an eventful 2024. Esteban Ocon made way for Jack Doohan, with the Australian rookie taking the number #7 and a Yellow T-Cam. Meanwhile, his senior teammate Pierre Gasly will continue his role, driving the new A525 with number #10 and a Black T-Cam. Oliver Oakes will remain Alpine’s Team Principal for the 2025 season.
MoneyGram Haas F1 Team

It is a fresh start for Haas this season. Team Principal Ayao Komatsu has undertaken a complete overhaul for the 2025 season with the VF-25. The driver lineup features Esteban Ocon, who brings his number #31 from Alpine. Ocon’s VF-25 will feature a Black T-Cam, and he will be joined by the young Oliver Bearman. The British rookie previously served as a reserve driver for both Ferrari and Haas in 2024. He made his debut for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, replacing then-driver Carlos Sainz Jr., who was ruled out due to illness. Bearman will drive with number #87 in his new full-time role, with his car featuring a Yellow T-Cam.
Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber

Just like Haas, Sauber has also followed the mantra of a complete overhaul for their 2025 season driver lineup. Mattia Binotto currently manages the team as interim Team Principal before Jonathan Wheatley takes over in April. Nico Hulkenberg joins the driver lineup from Haas, bringing his number #27 for the new C45, featuring a Black T-Cam. The veteran driver will be accompanied by the young and talented Gabriel Bortoleto. The Brazilian rookie joins Sauber after winning the F2 Championship as a rookie for Invicta in 2024. He will drive the C45 with number #5, featuring a Yellow T-Cam. This is Sauber’s last season before Audi takes charge of the franchise in 2026.
Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team

Although based in Faenza, Italy, Racing Bulls are the secondary constructors under Red Bull ownership. Team Principal Laurent Mekies will continue to have Yuki Tsunoda driving the new VCARB 02 with his number #22, featuring a Yellow T-Cam. Following Liam Lawson’s promotion to Red Bull Racing to accompany Max Verstappen, Racing Bulls replaced him with 2024 F2 runner-up Isack Hadjar. The French rookie will drive the VCARB 02 with number #6, featuring a Black T-Cam.
